Shore Line Trolley Museum Fire Apparatus Show
Saturday, June 22, 2013, 9:00am to 3:00pm
This is a chance to ride a one hundred year old trolley along the pristine salt marsh of East Haven and Branford and then do what every child would love to do - sit in a fire truck! On Saturday June 22nd from 9 AM to 3 PM you will be able to do just that. On display at the Shore Line Trolley Museum will be fifteen antique and no-so-antique fire trucks from all over Connecticut. Red trucks, white trucks and green trucks will be on display our trolley yard area.
The museum opens and the fire trucks will be in place at 9 AM. The first trolley leaves Sprague Station at 9 AM for a 45 minute ride and tour. The trolley portion of the tour this year includes viewing car 316 (built in 1896!) which has never previously been on regular public display. Get a firsthand look at how our trolley cars are cared for and repaired in our shop. We do things in our shop the old fashioned way: hot rivets, babbitt bearings and hand crafted woodworking are the staples of our shop.
Your visit will include a trolley ride, the fire truck display and tour of our trolley buildings. We will have coffee available in the morning, and lunch will be available on the property as well. Walk around the fire trucks, climb on board all while listening to music of the period. To help support the museum we will be having a 50/50 raffle with drawing around 2:30.
Admission rates: Adults $10.00, Seniors (62+) $8.00, Children (2-15) $6.00. Don’t forget to bring your personal camera, as always at the museum, take as many photos as you want. In addition the indoor museum exhibits will be open as well as the theater and our museum store. Pick up some postcards to mail to friends or a gift for other trolley-fans in your life. The fire truck show is offered by the Shore Line trolley Museum as a fund raiser to support the operations and maintenance of the museum's 95 trolley cars. Proceeds help promote the museum's efforts to preserve trolley car history. For additional information call 203-467-6927.
